the essentials

What are your essentials men? Are you scratching your beard at that question? Twirling your moustache? Well Im here to help. I practially follow the blue hour blog every day and I love it when Brian has something about his attire, so simple yet so perfect. The above image is from his blog about his wardrobe choices when travelling.
Essential item No 1. The striped shirt, long sleeve or short sleeve preferably with navy and a loose easy fit. Can be worn in winter with a navy coat or in summer for picnics by the lake or a seaside adventure.
Item No 2. The trouser. Chino's for summer in Navy or Beige and in winter perhaps some wool trousers but NOT in beige, good god man winter is not for light colours. Navy, Black or Brown will do. Now don't be distressed.
Item No 3. A nice comfy sweatshirt. Simplistic in style and not too tight, almost all colours will do...not outlandish colours though, grey, navy, black, maybe mix it up and get a forest green. If you don't know what to wear this with, then you might be beyond help. In fact...do you ever get dressed?

This is just a rough guide to what I think are the absolute essentials and suit every man on the planet, of course being a modern man you will need to invest in some good jeans (a dark blue) as well.

Helloooo Handsom

Handsom are a mens and womenswear label who I personally think do menswear the best. Their dapper winter looks are everything a simple modern man should consider wearing, and by 'consider' I of course mean 'don't consider, just do it'.
This summer they've introduced the chino in the range, in cotton and linen of course. Since most men's shorts are unflattering and hard on the eye, a gentlemen should always have a pair of these to get them through the summer...the ladies love it. Head over to their website, where you can find stockists and you'll be presently suprised at their extremely reasonable prices.
However there is one thing I must go against with them and that is don't ever EVER wear man sandals, or heaven forbid i see a flip-flop in sight. Boating shoes, loafers and sandshoes are the only way. Im a lady and I don't even wear sandals, come summer I wear sandshoes or leather buckled shoes.

Gentlemen's Spring Accessory Essentials

All right chaps with the new season comes a list of accessory essentials that every man should have to get through the season, or most season's in some cases.
Fred Astaire was a dapper chap and he always knew to never go without your Chapeux:

Wouldn't it be the height of embarassment for your socks to fall down all nilly willy around your ankles? It certainly wouldn't impress colleagues or the ladies. So make sure you always have your sock garters:

Spring is not the time for boots, and in order to look dashing when about town or enjoying some leisurely time at the country club invest in a spiffy new pair of loafers:

Some other items to consider towards the end of Spring would be some boating shoes and some swimming trunks, which we will of course cover heading into Summer. I think it also goes without saying to add some personal touches, perhaps some coloured socks or a dashing new scarf.
